Grand Turk Cruise Port

Grand Turk, the Turks’ and Caicos Islands’ capital, is a serene and picturesque island that embodies the essence of Caribbean beauty. With its pristine white-sand beaches, crystal-clear turquoise waters, and rich history, Grand Turk offers a perfect blend of relaxation and exploration.

Grand Turk Cruise Port

The Grand Turk Cruise Center is a highlight for many visitors, offering a seamless and convenient experience. This is not a tender port, so your ship will dock directly at the long pier, allowing you to easily disembark and start your adventure. As you stroll down the pier, you’ll pass through a duty-free shopping area, where you can find everything from local souvenirs to luxury items.

At the end of the pier, you’re greeted by the stunning beach, perfect for those who prefer to unwind by the water without venturing too far. If you’re in the mood for some lively entertainment, Margaritaville is right at the port, offering a fun atmosphere, delicious food, and refreshing drinks—all within walking distance.

For a more laid-back vibe, head to Jack’s Shack, a local favorite situated right on the beach. Here, you can indulge in tasty drinks and food while enjoying the beautiful ocean views. With many bars nearby, you’ll have plenty of options to sip, savor, and soak up the island’s relaxed atmosphere.

Things to do at Grand Turk Cruise Port

As a seasoned travel advisor specializing in cruises, I’ve visited Grand Turk numerous times. It’s one of my favorite Caribbean cruise ports, offering a range of activities perfect for a day on the island. If you’re wondering what to do during your stop at the Grand Turk Cruise Port, I’ve got some great suggestions!

Explore the Beaches

Grand Turk is known for its stunning beaches, and you’ll find one steps away from the cruise ship terminal. On either side of the dock, there are rows of lounge chairs available for free—ideal for a relaxing beach day.

Governors Beach is about a mile away but very beautiful to visit, this is just a couple minutes drive if you rent a golf cart (which you should!)

Heading the other direction from the cruise ship, you can explore the beach known as the Conch Graveyard for its many conch shells washed up ashore.

Rent a Golf Cart and See the Island

One of the best ways to explore Grand Turk is by renting a golf cart. It’s a fun and flexible way to see the island at your own pace. You can reserve your cart beforehand, and it will be ready for you when you arrive. The rental company provides a map and suggests key places to visit. Remember to drive on the left and refuel the cart before returning it!

Visit Margaritaville

Located right at the port, Margaritaville is a popular spot for cruise passengers. It’s a great place to unwind with some music, drinks, and even a dip in the pool. For those looking for a little extra fun, try the Flo Rider Surf Simulator or rent a poolside cabana.

You’ll want to make reservations with your cruise excursion desk before arrival to ensure a cabana if that’s what you would like.

Snorkeling Adventures

Snorkeling in Grand Turk is a must if you’re a fan of marine life. The clear, warm waters are perfect for exploring coral reefs and spotting vibrant fish. You can book a snorkeling excursion through trusted providers like Shore Excursion Group or Viator.

One of the highlights is snorkeling over Library Reef, where the ocean floor drops from 30 feet to a staggering 7,000 feet!

Discover the Historic Lighthouse

For a bit of history, rent a golf cart or book an ATV tour to visit the Grand Turk Lighthouse. Standing 60 feet tall, this lighthouse was built in 1852 and offers a glimpse into the island’s maritime past. There’s also a snack bar, souvenir shop, and even a zipline adventure course nearby.

Enjoy the Local Food and Shopping

Cockburn Town, the capital of Grand Turk, is home to a charming market area on Front Street. Here, you can browse local vendors and enjoy authentic Caribbean cuisine. One of my favorite spots is Barbie’s Bar and Restaurant, where the conch fritters and coconut shrimp are simply delicious.

Look for the Donkeys

A unique and endearing aspect of Grand Turk is the free-roaming donkeys you’ll see around the island. These gentle creatures add a special charm to the island, and they’re a favorite among visitors.
