MIAMI, Aug. 2, 2024 – Royal Caribbean International has named Stacy Lubin as the director of environment and sustainability for its upcoming Royal Beach Club Paradise Island in Nassau, The Bahamas, slated to open in 2025. Philip Simon, president and general manager of Royal Beach Club, praised Lubin’s dedication to conservation and sustainable development. “Stacy’s expertise will be invaluable in guiding our efforts to preserve the natural beauty of Paradise Island while enhancing its accessibility,” Simon stated.

Royal Caribbean’s environmental plan for the beach club, introduced in April 2023, focuses on zero waste-to-landfill, renewable energy, no dredging, wastewater treatment, habitat protection, and environmental monitoring.

Lubin’s extensive background includes roles in the Bahamian private and public sectors. She holds a bachelor’s degree in marine biology from the University of Plymouth and a Master of Science in sustainable environmental management from Middlesex University. Her career highlights include managing environmental operations for Sterling Global Financial and coordinating environmental compliance for the Baha Mar Development Company.

Lubin’s appointment follows the recent hiring of Captain Cameron Gibson as harbormaster for the beach club. Royal Caribbean has emphasized local recruitment, opening its first Bahamas-based office in Nassau in May 2023 to drive these efforts.

The Royal Beach Club Paradise Island, part of Royal Caribbean’s new collection, will blend Bahamian culture, cuisine, and ownership with the cruise line’s signature experience, service, and design. Set to open in 2025, the beach club will feature Bahamian ownership of up to 49% equity through a unique public-private partnership, highlighting the island nation’s involvement in the project. Further details about the beach club will be announced soon.
